Hi! My name is David, but my friends call me Shepp. I’m owner and a Lead Coach at CrossFit Manatee. In my youth I played baseball and ran track, but these days you’ll find me on the golf course or sweating it out at CrossFit Manatee.
I found CrossFit when my wife stumbled upon CFM after driving by. At the time, I was out of shape, chronically fatigued, and finding a round of golf to be physically taxing. At 30 years old I decided it was time to make a change. So, with a little nudge from my wife, I walked through the doors of CrossFit Manatee for the very first time. I came in hoping for a good workout and a drop on the scale. What I found was patient, experienced coaching, and a community of friends I didn’t know I needed. Jeff was born and raised in Bradenton. Since freshman year of high school, Jeff has been a part of team athletics in the military programs at school, including the JROTC Raider Team and ROTC Ranger Challenge Team as well as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts. Seeing a need for team camaraderie and being prepared for the unknown and unknowable, Jeff was introduced to CrossFit in 2011 by classmates. Once relieved of military duty and graduated from The University of South Florida, Jeff has fully committed to improving himself and other athletes at CrossFit Manatee.
Jeff is currently a student at the State College of Florida, where he is working on his Physical Therapist Assistant certification. He believes in “active” rest days, and spends his free time paddleboarding, biking, running, or otherwise having fun outisde. When the weather has forced Jeff inside, he reverts back to his video-gaming ways or enjoys a good book.Email Jeff
Hello my name is Julie, I’m a wife, mom of four, and grandma of one, and I spend much of my time homeschooling, taxi-driving, and feeding hungry teenagers. With my busy schedule, I have found CrossFit to be the best way for me to incorporate fitness into my busy life. It’s not just another item to check off my list each day; it’s the jump-start I need to help me focus and motivate me through my day’s challenges.
I love connecting with friends in my CrossFit community. I love sharing CrossFit with others, whether through working out with my fellow Manatees, coaching in the gym, or introducing CrossFit to someone for the first time. Watching our athletes grow and achieve their goals is an ongoing inspiration for me.
I have a passion for clean eating and healthy lifestyle choices, and I strive to learn more about health and fitness every day. I enjoy using my knowledge to help others and bouncing ideas off other health-minded individuals.Email Julie
Hello my name is Rob, I was born and raised in the cold confines of the frozen tundra or better known as Wisconsin. While in high school, I ran track and was a state-level wrestler. After graduation, I served four years in the United States Air Force stationed at Yokota Air Base in Japan. When I returned home, I realized it was still really cold in Wisconsin, so I decided to move to Bradenton. In my sunny new home, I was able to bike and run year-round, so I started getting into triathlons and running events. Although I truly enjoyed doing tri’s and road races, I still felt as though I didn’t have a close group of people with whom to share the fun. Then a friend convinced me to try out CrossFit. I knew after my first session that this is where I wanted to be. I love the WODs, I love the community, and I love coaching people to help them get better. I also enjoy using my fitness outside of the gym by rock climbing, biking, paddle boarding and anything that involves being in the great outdoors. On the more toned-down side of things, I love to read and play the occasional video game (though not as much as Jeff!).Email Rob
Hi! My name is Korri, and I am an owner and original member of CrossFit Manatee. I’m a registered nurse with a passion for traditional nutrition, natural living, and of course, fitness.
I found CrossFit after a friend wouldn’t shut up about it. (It happens.) I was doing home workouts at the time, and was fairly satisfied with my fitness level. I drove by CrossFit Manatee on the way to my day job in the ICU and decided to give it a try. I was hooked after my first week! The sweat is one I hadn’t found anywhere else, but the community is what kept me coming back. At CrossFit Manatee, we support each other in ways I didn’t realize existed. Women encourage other women here — that’s not something I see often outside of the gym!
CrossFit has taught me so much about health and wellness in the time I’ve been involved. Now I worry less about how my body looks, and more about what it can do — and I’ve discovered that doing this actually helps my body look and feel better than before! Hi! My name is Mike. After 38 years working for the United States Postal Service, I retired and soon realized I was overweight and out of shape. I was 50lbs overweight and had a body fat of 38%. I decided to give CrossFit a try. It didn’t take long before I fell in love with CrossFit and wished I had found this lifestyle much earlier in my life. Mostly, I loved the community aspect of CrossFit. I lost 45lbs and reduced my body fat to 17% and I no longer take high blood pressure or cholesterol medication.
I was so impressed with CrossFit and what it had done for me, I set out to obtain my L1 Coach certification. I wanted to bring more of the senior community to CrossFit. Being 62 years old, I want everyone in the senior community to benefit from the lifestyle that CrossFit has provided me.
I am committed to this lifestyle and get most excited when I see someone make the commitment to change. I hope to bring my passion and dedication to everyone that walks through the doors of CrossFit Manatee!Email Mike
Hi. My name is Tisha. I moved to Florida from southeastern Ohio in June 2015. In my youth I played basketball and softball, but I was pretty inactive during my college years, tipping the scale at 200lbs. I decided (with a push from my mom) that I needed to make a change, lose weight and improve my overall health. I started out walking on the treadmill, running, and onto Zumba and home workout videos. I lost weight, but I struggled with consistency. I continued on this path until I started Crossfit in Ohio in 2013. I was hooked after one workout. After moving to Bradenton in June of 2015, I joined Crossfit Manatee. I love the team camaraderie, competition, and support. Crossfit is the most effective training I’ve ever participated in, and I I’m in the best shape of my life.Email Tisha
